    In Loving Memory

    Meri Keiser

Meri Keiser, a long time Santa Rita Union board member, passed on December 29, 2019.  Meri will be remembered for her loyal service, steady presence, and fierce belief in what we could accomplish together.  She truly loved the staff and students of Santa Rita and her dedication to service is inspiring.  Her warm smile and heartwarming laugh will be etched into the memory of all who knew her well. We did not truly lose Meri because she became a part of us all.

    Debbie Behovich

    Debbie Bejovich

There was never a question as to what was on Debbie’s mind; her ever present smile and charm exuded love for the students, families and staff members for whom she cared so much about. Debbie was ever present in classrooms working closely with students throughout the school. Her sense of humor and her laugh was infectious and made everyone’s day brighter! We could count on her to keep us on track with anything having to do with the calendar.  She knew how many days until break, how many days until payday, and how many days until a special event. Each morning and afternoon, Debbie could be seen directing traffic to ensure that children and families were safe. Her loss to us is deeply saddening, and she will be sorely missed by everyone in the Santa Rita School community. With all of our love, we thank you Debbie!

    About Us

The Santa Rita Union School District (SRUSD), located in the heart of the Salinas Valley of Monterey County, and is comprised of approximately 3600 students from Pre-School through Eighth Grade.  We are located in the heart of "Steinbeck Country" a region best known for its mild central coast climate and the hometown of Nobel Prize winning recipient, John Steinbeck.

Made up of four elementary schools, and two middle schools and a state preschool, all located within a five mile radius of each other, our district is characterized by rich cultural and linguistic diversity and a ‘home town’ feel evidenced by a warm, welcoming and caring community.

Our classrooms are richly infused with technology, and we are a 1 to 1 ratio Chromebook district which means every student in the district has personal access to an educational technology device within the curriculum.

SRUSD values its community:  School Board, District Leadership, Teachers, Parents, and Students.  All place significant value on the ability of SRUSD to successfully educate students within the context of a small, vibrant and fully engaged district.  The LCAP has been a catalyst for unifying the SRUSD’s vision around instructional excellence and academic achievement for all students.
